2010-05-10, Nairobi, Kenya. During his visit to Kenya, ICC Chief Prosecutor, stated that 6 individuals most responsible for post-election violence in Kenya will be prosecuted by the ICC. Ocampo met a Cabinet committee that was created to facilitate ICC investigations and is chaired by Internal Security minister George Saitoti. He did not disclose the names of the individuals, but stated that they will be determined as a result of the OTP’s investigation, and will not necessarily correlate with the names provided by the Waki Commission and the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) reports. The first 2 cases against individual accused should be brought before the ICC in September/October 2010.
